 In conventional orthodontics, your doctor uses a plaster model and 2-D x-rays to determine generally how he or she will treat your teeth.

 In SureSmile® orthodontics, your doctor uses the handheld OraScanner™ to capture precise 3-D images, allowing him or her to build an accurate 3-D computer model of your teeth.

 The treatment plan is developed over time by viewing progress at frequent monitoring visits and adjusting wires accordingly. As a result, the finishing stage of treatment, where the fine alignments of your teeth occur, can take as long as the major adjustments.

 Treatment planning occurs on the computer, where the doctor is able to precisely map out your entire treatment and design a custom wire. As a result, your teeth move to the desired positions more directly, reducing treatment time.

 Most archwires are bent by hand. This manual customization is typically performed with the patient in the chair and may lead to inefficencies and unintended consequences.
